Top 5 most dangerous roads of the world
#1: “Road of Death” - Bolivia
North Yungas Road is hands-down the most dangerous in the world for motorists. This one clearly endangers your life. It runs in the Bolivian Andes, 70 km from La Paz to Coroico, and plunges down almost 3,600 meters in an orgy of extremely narrow hairpin curves and 800-meter abyss near-misses. A fatal accident happens there every couple of weeks, 100-200 people perish there every year. In 1995 the Inter-American Development Bank named the La Paz-to-Coroico route “the world’s most dangerous road.”

| These roads are pretty puny compared to many roads in Africa, some of which are a combination of the Bolivian, Russian, and Chinese roads, depending upon season and exact position on the road.

| Actually those "tourist hiking trails" have a bit of history to them. In the days before the cultural revolution in China they were only traversed by taoist monks or anyone desperate enough to seek them. It's only since then that they've added nice chains and boards to the way so that tourists can go there.

| In 1995 the Inter-American Development Bank named the La Paz-to-Coroico route %u201Cthe world%u2019s most dangerous road.%u201D
hey, here's a thought: how about shell out a little cash for some railing instead of just listing the road as the most dangerous in the world. be part of the solution for once.

| There has never been a road from Kathmandu to the Everest base camp. Actually you have to walk for a day to reach the Everest base camp. But the road that you have showed does exist somewhere in Nepal. Can you please edit that comment in there because its misleading. You can say "A road in Nepal." I will try to get you some more pictures and information.

| That Bolivian road is pretty freaky, I've biked down it! there is heaps of companies running mountain bike trips down it. Just make sure you go with a good company cause bikers get killed all the time as well....but its an awesome experience getting to the bottom, although then you have to drive back up to the top...

| I've been on a 'road' not unlike the Bolivian road of death. The Pan-Am highway in Peru has some Insane portions. Yeah, it's paved, and there are some barricades keeping you from the one mile plus sheer drops if you doze off, but not many. Twice, I looked out my window as we drove; looked straight down to see nothing but the Very distant ocean crashing against the base of the Andes. Intense...doesn't quite cover it.
